The Gulfstream Aerospace company has for the first time brought the newest business jet of Gulfstream G500 to Europe. This week the airplane debuts at the Farnborough International Airshow exhibition. G500 has for the first time made transatlantic trip, having taken off from Savannah Hilton Head’s airport and in 6 hours and 55 minutes, having flown by 3732 miles / 6912 km with average speed 0,90 Moves, has landed in Farnborough.
“From the moment of the first flight of G500 in May, 2015 we constantly expand test fleet and we move ahead to certification of the airplane in 2017″, – Mark Burns, the president of the Gulfstream company has told. “I am glad that we could bring G500 to Farnborough and show to our clients safety, productivity and comfort of the airplane”.
The fourth prototype of G500 which serves as the test stand for avionics, water tests and tests of some systems participates in Farnborough.
Today the test fleet of Gulfstream G500 has made more than 300 runs and flew 1280 hours. The airplane has reached maximum speed 0,995 Moves and height of 53000 feet / 16154 m. The most long flight has made 7 hours and 35 minutes.
At the moment in the program of flight tests of the G500 airplane tests in the expanded modes of flight which included tests for a flutter, for extreme height and flying speed, temperature tests, and also initial testing of characteristics of controllability and drop, and also work in the conditions of frosting are complete.
The company plans to receive the certificate of type on G500 in 2017 and to put into operation – in 2018.
Gulfstream G500 can fly by 5000 nautical miles / 9260 km at a speed of 0,85 Moves or 3800 miles / 7038 km at 0,90 Moves. Maximum operational speed of the airplane-0,925 of the Move.
